Studentenresidenz Stöckacker

I lived about three years while I was a grad student at the University of Bern. I lived with a flatmate for a year and then moved to a studio and lived there about two years until graduation.I had great experience living here. I will try to list some pros and cons of living here as a student. If you decide to rent here, hope you enjoy the stay!Pros:- You live with students around your age. Students are nice and friendly. Also, this is not like a party dorm. The place is very quiet and rules are strict about no party after late hours.- All inclusive utility, washing/drying machine, and fully furnished! So no need to worry about anything else except paying the rent.- Rent is quite reasonable considering the place you are getting. If you live in a studio, you get your own washroom and kitchen!- Place is always kept clean. They help with regular cleaning of the common places (corridor, washing machine, curtains, garbage, recycling, common room, etc).- Great location. Stockacker Train station right in front of your house. If you miss the train there, you can run to Europaplatz to catch other trains. Also, bikable distance to the school.- 3 month notice move out policy. You are not binded with a contract for an entire year or a semester.Cons:- Wall is somewhat thin, so you need to be respectful not to disturb your neighbors as much.- Deposit of 2000 CHF. I think this also applies to short term stay people and so deposit might be overwhelming.- Supposedly there is a train running next to you. I got used it and didn't mind it at all, but it may be different for sensitive people.- Shower place is not separately divided in the washroom, so you need to close the shower curtains completely or else washroom will flood.P.s. I was trying to write down all the cons I can think of.. but if you are comparing this residence with other unibe residences, this place is probably much better.

Praktische Lage, Zimmer groß, knallige Farben und nette Atmosphäre. Wenn man ein Problem hat bekommt man ziemlich schnell Hilfe. Auch cool, dass es ein Musikzimmer gibt. Bei schönem Wetter ist der Balkon toll!

Nette Verwaltung, stehen immer helfend bereit; grosse Zimmer und der Wäscheservice für Bettwäsche ist super praktisch! Umbegung nicht die Schönste aber sonst top!

Sehr angenehm hier zu wohnen, die Lage ist ausgezeichnet mit dem ÖV und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in direkter Nähe zu Fuss. Super Service und gut eingerichtete Wohnung. Würde jeder Zeit wieder hier wohnen.

I lived there in a private apartment for 4 years. It is great facility with a lot of benefits for students, interns and PhDs. They provide all in one package. One pays only the rent for every service provided. It is very quite and friendly place. Strongly recommended.

I lived there for two years with three other roommates. I liked how well administered and clean. Any problem you might have will be solved promptly by the administrators, unlike other places where they are hard to reach. Moreover, the the University central building is around 5 minutes away by train, super convenient! And although the rails are just in front of the building, the train was never an annoyance; the place was actually quite calm and quiet.
