Dr. Porchet ist nicht nur kompetent und äusserst freundlich aber geht auch stark auf die Bedürfnisse und Wünsche seiner Patienten ein.Selbst bin ich über Jahre Patientin bei Dr. Porchet und hatte stets extreme Angst vor einer Operation, da ich 1) nie zuvor eine Operation hatte und 2) diese sehr nah an meinem Hals war. Wir hatten etliche Jahre Kontrolluntersuchungen bei denen mich Dr. Porchet nie zu einer Operation drängte. Heute bin ich operiert, habe eine kaum sichtbare Narbe (Danke nochmals herzlich :)) und keinerlei Beschwerden! François Porchet is my hero !In May 2022, I was diagnosed with an acute lumbago (pain in lower back) later identified through MRI scans as an acutely herniated disk in lower back. First, I tried to avoid surgery at all cost: medication, physiotherapy, back exercises... to no avail: pain only got worse. Porchet was recommended by two surgeons I knew. One had previously worked as orthopedic surgeon at the Schulthess clinic, witnessing first-hand Porchet's work, the second, a reconstructive plastic surgeon, had collaborated with Porchet while Porchet was chief of spinal surgery at Switzerland's largest public hospital. Their recommendation proved to be right: it saved my back and health. Porchet was clear from the start that a surgery must be avoided whenever and wherever possible. In fact, he had previously advised an acquaintance of mine with similar problem that had flow especially from overseas to see him NOT to do surgery. In my case however, he was clear that surgery cannot be avoided. He took the time to explain in clear and simple terms what was happening to the sciatic nerve being pressed by the bulging disk. He also explained the procedure that would take place in order to remove the bulging part of the disk. One week later, I was admitted at the Schulthess clinic with great care and support by his medical staff. Porchet visited me ahead of the operation in order to answer any questions or concerns I may have. He also inquired about my state of health and made sure I was given the right medication to reduce pain ahead of surgery. The surgery took place on an afternoon at 15:00 and went as planned: it took in all 45 minutes. The next day in the morning, Porchet showed up and asked me to stand-up and walk (!) - Wow - I couldn't believe my ears but I did stand up and a few steps that reassured me that I could do it. He kept the bulging pieces of the disk that had been removed in a jar for me to see. it was the equivalent of 2 popcorns which is about 10% of the total disk. Six weeks later, I am walking daily about 5 kilometers, sleeping peacefully and sitting comfortably at meals and social events. If you are plagued by the same problem, my advice post-operation is (1) lose weight, I lost 6 kilos (2) adopt a new posture while walking and sitting by keeping your back upright with more walking and less sitting (3) strictly follow the prescribed physiotherapy program.

Update: Ich habe Herrn Lienhard vor langer Zeit informiert und stehe zu meinen Aussagen.Dr. Porchet erkennt das Potential seiner Patienten gleich. Nämlich unendliche Möglichkeiten für chirurgische Eingriffe. Bei mir hat er mit jeder OP einen neuen Defekt ausgelöst, der dann natürlich nur mit einer weiteren OP korrigiert werden konnte. Wäre diese Methode nicht so schmerzhaft für die Betroffenen, man müsste Dr. Porchet für seinen Geschäftssinn bewundern. Aber nach (zu) vielen Eingriffen kann ich sagen, dass dieser Arzt ziemlich sicher grösseren Schaden angerichtet hat, als wenn mein Problem unbehandelt geblieben wäre.

Dr Porchet is formidable. I crawled into the clinic one Friday, immediate MRI scan, into his office within 30 minutes. He told me surgery would be the following Monday, spent the next five days trying to convince him I would ski again ( both snow and water). 18 months later after following his advice I went snow skiing. Then back on the water. 10 years later still doing both and no sign of any issue. A big thank you to Porchet and team.

Ich hatte Herrn Dr. Porchet wegen einem schweren Bandscheibenvorfall, verbunden mit heftigen Schmerzen, aufgesucht. Herr Dr. Porchet hat mich eingehend untersucht, sehr gut beraten und - wie bereits mein Hausarzt - eine Operation empfohlen. Aus versicherungstechnischen Gründen musste ich den ersten Operationstermin absagen und um einen zweiten Termin bitten. Als sich wenige Tage vor dem zweiten Operationstermin meine Schmerzen völlig überraschend besserten, bat ich Dr. Porchet telefonisch um seinen Rat. Dabei begegnete er mir mit grösstem Verständnis und überzeugte mich mit seiner Aussage, dass er nicht ein MR- oder Röntgenbild, sondern einen Menschen und dessen klinischen Befund behandeln würde. Er empfahl mir, die Operation aufzuschieben und abzuwarten und versicherte mir, dass ich mich jederzeit wieder an ihn wenden dürfe. Genauso stelle ich mir eine gute ärztliche Beratung vor und ich habe zu diesem Arzt grösstes Vertrauen.
