Host screamed at me and my friend for wearing pyjamas outside to take instagram photos. Called us names and we left terrified. Not a pleasant experience at all. Would not recommend as they are discriminatory and too strict

If you’re looking for a gem, this is it! If you want to be in a place similar to Interlaken but without the tourists, The Hayloft is it. The delicious breakfast was the best part with the hilarious stories told by the wonderful hosts. They have great suggestions for local hikes, restaurants, and adventures! Ask about the gorge on the one way road for a hike with great views and a restaurant at the top.

It's a marketing trap, way too pricey for what it is. The place is cute, well-maintained, instragrammable (the owners are good marketeers), but comfort and service are on a lower price level. In Kandersteg the majority of houses look like that, so it's not unique. We were in the 6-bed room (there is one other smaller room), there are no amenities, matresses slip away constantly, the room can't be darkened, toilet flush is very old and weak, no cupboard, no shelves, there is a table but with only four chairs, breakfast needs to be ordered in detail the night before, it's very basic (no eggs, no bacon, no berries, no hot chocolate etc) and quality is supermarket quality (but admintedly it's nicely arranged). You can't eat in your room, you can't store anything in their fridge, you can't use anything in their kitchen. You need to pay extra for the hottub, which you also can't the spontaneously. Their interpretation of Covid rules were also the clumsiest and least guest-friendly we have experienced in Switzerland. It's definitively not child-friendly, rather for traveller's without kids.

Wichtig: kein Essen darf auf das Gelände mitgenommen werdenEnglish: beautiful house and rooms but felt absolutely not welcome.

A beautiful B&B (those views!) with lovely hosts - many good stories to share and local recommendations. You can tell so much thought went into making the house a warm and loving home. We really enjoyed the evening hot tub experience (worth the extra fee).Note that the B&B is a bit of a walk if you are traveling to Kandersteg without a car and are carrying many bags.As noted in some other prior reviews, the B&b is a bit strict. No food allowed in the house. We’ve been to over 50 countries and have never been to a hotel or b&b that did not allow us to use the fridge for food storage, or at the very least eat our own snacks/food in our rooms or out in the dining room. Also, it is a Late check in and early check out despite no one checking in the day we were checking out (4pm onwards and 10am checkout). While we realize that this is also the primary house the hosts/owners live in, we did feel that we had to tip toe around during our stay. We really did enjoy our stay, but found the strict rules a bit of a turnoff and hope the owners don’t write another long response to refute the feedback. There’s a honest reason why numerous guests have expressed the same sentiments.

The owners are fantastic and always have wonderful stories to share. If we could live here we would. The views are the best out of any place in Switzerland that we stayed. The location is also central, which allows for easy day trips to most towns. Seriously it’s like heaven!

Once you stay at the Hayloft you will only want to keep going back, quirky, traditional ,cosy, comfortable accommodation with perfect hosts who’s only intention is for you to enjoy and discover the area where the hayloft is so beautifully situated, In winter it’s a beautiful quiet resort where , we found tyou can ski and enjoy the best of traditional Switzerland, not overcrowded and great for all levels of skiers, in spring/summer the natural landscape takes on another dimension offering hiking and beautiful scenery in a quiet relaxing environment, the lake at Oeschinen that you walk on in the winter is now a bathing spot for the brave, the wildlife returns to the mountains and it really is 2 different scenarios but in the same beautiful location, comfortable beds enable you get a good evenings rest followed by a hearty breakfast prepared by Peter and Kerry with a huge selection of traditional cheeses and charcuterie, along with all the main breakfast staples really do set you up ready for the days activity, you can walk to the ski lift which is about 20 minutes or drive and park up and take the gondola lift, once you are up there there are a few places where you can go for refreshments and lunch all very good and offering tradicional Swiss cuisine, the Berghotel was probably the highlight of the lunches we had whilst up there. There are many restaurants in kandersteg if you want to eat out, however if your lucky enough to be able to get a dinner date at the hayloft you will experience a beautifully prepared dinner by Kerry and Peter, we had a couple of fantastic evenings sat down with them and it feels more like a dinner with family than hosts, they really do make it special and the food was fantastic, we even persuaded Kerry to prepare a traditional fondue as a special occasion for us and it’s still the best we have had to this day. After dinner you can relax in the wood fired hot tub (extra charge) and unwind after a hard days skiing or hiking and it sets you up perfectly for the next day, so experience it even if it’s just for 1 night, surrounded by snow looking at the endless stars in the sky, glass in hand it’s an experience that just can’t be repeated anywhere else, until the next time keep up the good work and don’t worry about the influencers and their lack of education and class.

Stayed two nights with my family and great friends who moved to Basel years ago. WONDERFUL!!! Kerry and Peter are wonderful hosts, and their place is beautiful. Food and drink were fantastic, and the rooms very cozy. Highly recommend to anyone visited Kandersteg.
