Nice staff, affordable pricing! The sandwiches and other things still are from 2.5CHF (same board outside the shop, in previous reviews from 3 years ago) they have coffee too but I did not try it

Unbeatable price for really good pastries. The people who work there are so sweet too. I came in during closing and got an almond croissant and it was absolutely delicious and tasted fresh.

The idea itself is great. Congratulations for that. Depending on what you have you have to think how will it tastes. Small difference though. Bread with eyes closed you should go. Same goes for sweets!

Klein aber fein mit tollem Konzept dahinter. War heute das erste Mal dort und habe mir eine Nussstange gekauft. Die schmeckte hervorragend und genauso war auch der nette Herr hinter der Theke, der mich super über die Produkteauswahl beraten hat. Da war ich definitiv nicht das letzte Mal :-D

One of my favorites shop when I visited Switzerland.I like this shop concept.The item also nice taste.Great quality.Good price.This branch does not have any table and seat so only take away only.I visited another branch in Lausanne, there they have a few seats for you.Staffs are nice and they can speak English fluency.If I have a chance to visit Switzerland again, I will definitely visit Äss-Bar.I bought few items and took them back to my home country.They were nice!Keep up a great job!

Not a local but from what I can see, the individual single serving pastries/ breads are not that inexpensive at 1.5+ and the loaves of bread run from 2.50+ it seemed. It seemed like the full loaves were more worth it for the money but at the same time, I saw similar pricing at migros/ coop so not sure how it is saving they much money. If they were 0.50 or less francs for individual servings and maybe 1-1.5/ loaf bread, I could see buying the items. I am thinking I would rather pay for the same price fresh products that are not “day old”items. Employees were customer service friendly.

Great hole-in-the-wall place with some of the best prices in the city! From what I understand, they get their bakes from leftovers from bakeries around the city, and then sell them at much lower prices—so you're getting more or less fresh bakes from the day before at a fraction of the price!

Danke Youtube für diesen tollen Tipp! Für Deutsche Geldbeutel ist Zürich ein hartes Pflaster - doch hier gibt es feinste Backwaren zu (für Deutsche Verhältnisse) akzeptablen Preisen. Und man tut gleichzeitig was Gutes, indem man die Backwaren ,,rettet. Super Idee
