Bushido Ryu Ju-Jitsu
In this dojo they teach traditional Ju-jitsu under the direction of René Amstutz. I have been practicing there for several months, and I think I can tell how the structure of the course is.The training is divided in 3 parts. At the beginning there is a general warm up and muscle training that is good for everybody. It is composed by squats, jumping jacks, leg warming, pushups and abs. A part of the warm up is dedicated also to different types of rolls. After it, we do about 10 minutes of newaza, which is ground techniques and fights. Usually we start with ground fight and we transit to ground techniques. The ground part is only a part of the techniques taught here, since traditional jujitsu has also atemi (strikes) and many standing techniques that overlap with Judo. Usually, after the newaza (ground technique), we start to study standing techniques that involves: joint locks, wrist escapes, neck escapes, and strikes. Many of these techniques are ideal for self-defense for any person. All these techniques are performed many times but slowly, to learn them and to give time to the “uke” (the person receiving the technique) to tap before being injured. This is because many of these techniques can be very painful and could injure the person if performed too quickly or with too much strength. Some of the training involves also the use of “pao” (hitting pads), to train punches, kicks, elbows and knees. All the techniques that are used in this case come from the Karate but power training and resistance are also a major component of this training. The school promote the passage of belt. René, after some time, select a student for the passage and put him with other higher belts to study the program for the exam. The program involves: atemi (strikes), projections and take-downs (tewaza), ground techniques (newaza), joint locks and standing techniques. The program is different for each belt. The exam is performed by showing all these techniques and by continuously repel attacks from the other member of the dojo (all this in a controlled and ordered way).Regarding the dojo friendliness and spirit, I would like to say that René did an excellent job. People here are very helpful and there is great respect between every member. A nice touch is also that every first Tuesday of the month there is an apero after the training with beverages and food.

Une très belle experience, aussi tant pour s'ammeliorer que pour se tenir en forme. Deconseillé au poignets fragiles.
