“Before I start many acupuncture sessions, I ask my patients to do some breathing and imagine their attention as strands of energy ‘stuck’ to people, places, and problems. Once they indicate that they can visualize this, I ask them to use their breath to release the hold of their attention strands on all these things and pull them back in, returning their attention to their own bodies. I ask that they find a place on their body to gather their attention, and use language like,
‘All pieces of my attention, focus, and energy come home to this body.’”
