Absolutely gorgeous harbour by the lake. A stones throw away from the main train station. I can highly recommend a walk along the lake where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the lake and mountains in the back ground. There are facilities to hire various boats which is a must on a beautiful sunny summers day. There is also a ‘badi’ where you have change rooms to pop on your costume and enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake. What you can also do is walk along the lake and the hike / walk the route 84 ‘wanderweg’ which was beautiful taking you a bit more inland but still you have views of the lake and mountains in the background while you are trailing through farming areas , slight forested areas and a bit of residential areas, again with beautiful scenery of houses with top class maintained gardens filled with such colour of summer plants. We ended our trail in Stäfa which was about a 16km walk from Rapperswil train station. Then took a train from Stäfa back to Zurich HB. I do need to add there is a castle near the Rapperswil harbour, this too is worthwhile visiting , we just did not do it on this trip.
